Statistical-mode backup is a method that performs a “dry run” on a backup set. This process performs 100% of the functionality of a regular backup with the exception of sending data to the Dakota Backup DS-System. Actual deduplication and compression statistics are generated along with information regarding the amount of net-new data created and backup set completion time. With all of the information contained in reports after running a statistical backup, Dakota Backup, LLC can give a customer a real-world costing and performance estimate.
