Installation
- Is software installed on any other machines at the site that we are backing up?
Only two pieces of software are installed on the customer’s LAN either on the source machine or on separate machines: Dakota Backup DS-CLIENT that collects data and sends it to the Dakota Backup Data Center, and Dakota Backup DS-User that acts as the user GUI and enables configuration of all backups and restores. - How is the Dakota Backup DS-CLIENT connected to our network?
The DB CLIENT software is ‘multihomed', i.e. it has one network connection to your network and one connection to Dakota Backup's network. This flexible approach allows Dakota Backup to integrate fully with your current IP/IPX configurations. - Who installs the Dakota Backup service?
Dakota Backup, LLC will install the Dakota Backup DS-CLIENT unit and the Dakota Backup DS-User Console at your site and provide the necessary training. If the installation is particularly complex or remote sites are involved, onsite support is available at a daily rate. - Can Dakota Backup DS-CLIENT be installed through RDP?
Installation of Dakota Backup software can be done through a Remote Desktop Connection. Once installed, Dakota Backup DS-CLIENT can be managed through a remote session or can be managed through a Dakota Backup DS-User GUI installed remotely.

“...the Dakota Backup crew were local, easier to work with and extremely fast. Within an hour of asking for the data we needed – we were back on task.”
